We try to be everything to everyone but let’s face it, this is hardly reality. With this in mind, please read through our frequently asked questions and our terms and conditions before you try to call or email us. This page will usually answer most questions you may have and is the quickest way to get an issue resolved.

M-F 9 AM to 6 PM CST

CLOSED ON ALL FEDERAL HOLIDAYS

AND shipping may be affected by holidays that fall on a weekend (for example, if July 4th is on a Sunday, we will not resume shipping until Tuesday. We find the day after a major holiday to be a logistical nightmare, and more packages get lost/damaged due to the shipping service being backed up.)

Local Pick Up Information

Place an order before 12 pm to receive local pick-up on the same day.

Minimum order of $20 for local pick-up. Pay online if you do not have the correct change; we do not keep cash at our location. PERIOD.

Local pick-up hours are M-F 10-6

*Please note local pick-up is a curbside service only. Our facilities are not open to the public.

Monday & Tuesday for live orders, M-F (cutoff is noon for any day) for all other products

Fedex Shipping Days (only offered for live orders unless other arrangements have been made)

FAQ’s

Q: What is the safest way to ship insects, invertebrates, and worms?

A: The safest and most responsible way to ship live creatures is with “Hold for Pick” up followed by overnight delivery

Q: Why are some of your Isopods not available in my state?

A: We hold PPQ 526 Permits issued through the USDA in order for us to ship our Isopod species legally. These permits are heavily regulated at both the state and federal levels, so if your state is not included for certain species, it is because the USDA division in your state does not allow the interstate transfer of these animals. The reasoning behind this is that they can be considered invasive and destructive to a sensitive ecosystem if released irresponsibly. Since we have rescued many animals of our own through the years, we not only can relate to this policy but agree with it wholeheartedly. Q: You advertise rescuing animals of all species. If I can no longer care for my animals, will you take them in?

A: Absolutely! And depending on what you have to offer, we may even buy them from you! We would much rather adopt or buy an animal from our customers than let an animal perish or be turned loose into the wild. PLEASE do not do this! Animals raised in captivity WILL NOT survive in the wild.

Q: How do you determine if the temperatures are safe for shipping?

A: We use the site wunderground.com to check temperatures from our location to yours. If you paid for standard shipping and the forecast for the next three days is outside of our shipping range (below 55 or above 85), you will receive an email with a weather alert and an option to change your shipping speed at that time.

Q: How do I track my package?

A: Once your order is processed in our system (up to two business days), you will receive a tracking number via email. It is your responsibility to track your package. Let us know ASAP if you do not receive your tracking number or if the shipping service indicates a problem.

Q: What if my tracking does not update?

A. Please give the tracking system 24 hours to update when your package is marked “shipped.” During peak times and acts of nature (after a hurricane, for example), the shipping service may experience delays on their end with the tracking system, but this usually does not affect the speed at which your package arrives.

Q: Can I get a refund for shipping delays?

A. We don’t refund for shipping delays unless you ordered live creatures with our LAG guarantee (Overnight gets store credit for delays)
